Still working on clearing the underbrush in the woods. This time the center castle nut holding the stump jumper on came off and got lost in the woods. The brush cutter started vibrating and I just had time to throttle it down before the blades dropped to the ground. Been mulching lots of brush and guessing the nut was pressed against a large stump causing it to break through the cotter pin and come off the main shaft. Had lots of trouble finding a replacement nut. 7/8ths was too small and 1” was too big. Tried both large and fine threads on both. Then started checking metric sizes. Finally found that the 24mm castle nut with 2mm threads fit perfectly.
Here is what the brushcutter should look like when the parts are installed.
