Have you wanted to raise your own meat chickens? This all in one chick shelter can raise up to 200 chicks inside for the first three weeks when they are rather fragile. Once they are big enough you fold down the sides and it can shelter 200 chickens underneath it for the last 5 weeks. No need to keep them in your garage or to keep separate brooders and pasture shelters. You can use the same shelter for their whole life!
Here are 200 chicks inside the coop and it has plenty of space to spare. They have 8ft x 8ft of floor space. In another week and a half when they get the rest of their feathers they will be ready to be let out on pasture. It is very chilly still this spring so I installed the wind break panels in the wire windows. Notice that it is designed with gaps around the panels to ensure they still get enough fresh air.
When the chicks are 3 weeks old we fold down the sides of the coop and let them rest under it for shade. We surround the pen with portable electric fencing and put a goose in with them to guard them from flying predators. This is our second year using the All In One Meat Coop and so far it is working great!
